A qualitative case study using focus groups
McInnis, S. M., Thomas, V. L., & Brewington, M. K. (2022). Studying online research recruitment of teens during the COVID-19 pandemic: A qualitative case study using focus groups. Sage Publications, Ltd. SAGE Research Methods Cases Vol. Doing Research Online https://doi.org/10.4135/9781529601114
This case study considers the design, methods, successes, and challenges of a qualitative research study conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Six focus group discussions with teens explored barriers and facilitators to recruiting teens for research through social media. The focus group findings and the lessons learned from conducting virtual qualitative research with budget constraints during the pandemic provide practical implications for researchers to incorporate into online research efforts.
