Stephanie McInnis uses her communications and research skills to address public health disparities and health literacy, with a focus on women's health. She specializes in qualitative research, social media listening, social media recruitment, communication strategy, and digital product development. 

Ms. McInnis also tests websites with end users and coordinates with designers, developers, and content writers to meet users where they are. She has been with RTI since 2018 and her most recent work has supported:

  • The RECOVER (Researching COVID to Enhance Recovery) Initiative, where she leads all communication research activities. This includes leading formative interviews and focus groups and conducting UX research to enhance the public facing website.
  • The CDC National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD) Health Marketing and Communication Services, where she is the lead evaluator of digital and traditional communication efforts and provides strategic social media recommendations, among other communications strategies.
  • Bureau of Tobacco Free Florida Tobacco Industry Monitoring, for which she monitors social media regarding tobacco-related topics.

Ms. McInnis has also co-authored research articles addressing how to use social media to boost participation in newborn screening research and recruiting teens for research via social media during the COVID-19 pandemic. She previously worked with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Child Mind Institute (CMI) to develop digital products that are accessible, actionable, and culturally relevant.
