Working around the world to make food accessible, nutritious, safe, and sustainable
The food we eat is part of a global chain of production and distribution, and it impacts our health, the environment, and the economy. At RTI, we are strengthening the pillars of food security: availability of sufficient quantities of food, access to nutritious food, and appropriate use of nutrition knowledge. We are deeply involved in the multiple dimensions of food safety, helping prevent foodborne illnesses throughout the worldwide food supply chain. And we support the development of sustainable agriculture as an economic engine, an environmentally sound enterprise, and an essential contributor to human health and welfare.
Working on behalf of government agencies, global foundations, and industry, we are helping build a body of evidence to inform best practices in many fields. We apply our knowledge of behavioral responses, environmental science, agriculture, and interconnected markets to lead research projects that aim to improve all aspects of the food system. Our work can be as specific as helping individuals make healthier eating choices, or as large-scale as informing policies and programs that affect millions of people. As a global organization, we draw on an international network of strategic partners to develop innovative solutions for emerging food markets and address challenges that cross borders.
