Helping agricultural markets work smarter
In the global fight to end hunger, increasing agricultural production and productivity is only a piece of the puzzle. Ensuring that market systems for agricultural commodities, including nutritious foods, are efficient, effective, and equitable is also critical for improving food security and increasing resilience to shocks and stresses such as climate change, pest invasions, and pandemics.
We work with a multitude of market system actors to address key constraints and vulnerabilities and, ultimately, to promote economic growth and improved nutrition. We create job opportunities, increase incomes, and improve access to nutritious foods, while also protecting these gains from shocks and stresses. By facilitating locally led change, we create mutually beneficial networks and promote sustainable system improvements. We also deliver comprehensive research and evaluation expertise to mitigate agriculture’s impact on climate change and inform locally led climate adaptation solutions.
