RTI’s Jennifer Greer earns spot in Ragan’s Top Women in Communications, Class of 2025

Ragan Communications selected Greer as a “dynamic do-er” for her proactive and influential impact

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — RTI International, an independent scientific research institute, is pleased to announce Jennifer Greer, senior director of institute communications and community affairs, has been named to the Top Women in Communications, Class of 2025, by Ragan Communications.

This prestigious award honors women who are continuing to shape and advance the communication industry by inspiring and uniting their co-workers and peers, telling powerful stories for their organizations and clients. Greer won in the “dynamic do-er” category for her proactive and influential impact at the institute.

“Jennifer is driven to ensure our internal and external audiences stay informed and engaged. We would be hard-pressed to find a more ‘dynamic do-er’ who consistently drives multiple strategic initiatives forward with excellence,” said Kami Spangenberg, senior vice president of corporate communications, scientific stature services and community affairs at RTI. "Jennifer is usually working behind the scenes to support RTI’s success, and I’m thrilled to see her receive this public recognition."

Greer has a large portfolio that includes leading change communications across the institute. She directs the work of RTI’s internal and external news hubs through staff and executive communications and media and public relations and leads the community affairs program, which includes sponsorships, volunteering and charitable giving.

“I am honored to be part of this esteemed group of women leaders and visionaries in PR, marketing and corporate communications,” said Greer. “I’m especially pleased to join my supervisor and mentor Kami Spangenberg, who received a 2023 Top Women in Communications Award as a ‘bridge builder.’ I greatly appreciate my colleagues for nominating me, and RTI for providing me opportunities to challenge myself and grow.”

A highly experienced communication professional, Greer has been passionate about supporting RTI’s mission to improve the human condition since joining the institute 25 years ago as a technical editor and writer before immersing herself in corporate communications.

She has earned countless RTI awards including more than 10 President’s Awards and the Margaret Elliot Knox Excellence Award. In 2016, Greer won first place in the Ragan Communications PR Daily Corporate Social Responsibility Awards for best stakeholder/employee engagement.

She holds a Master of Arts focused on Communication and Media Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from North Carolina State University.
