Sylvester Isuja is an experienced education management specialist with over 16 years of experience working in programs that aim at systems strengthening and community engagement for delivery of quality education and related child protection services. 

Mr. Isuja is currently the Chief of Party for the USAID-funded Jifunze Uelewe Activity in Tanzania. In this capacity, Mr. Isuja manages all aspects of the implementation of the project which focuses on improving instruction by teachers, strengthening the ability to improve learning at a local and regional level, and increasing community support for safe and inclusive education in and outside of school. 

Previously, in his role as Program Technical Coordinator and Deputy Chief of Party for USAID’s Tusome Pamoja project, implemented by RTI, Mr. Isuja coordinated technical inputs across project components ensuring responsiveness to regional needs and supported the Chief of Party in managing technical personnel and Regional Team Leads. He also acted as a liaison to partner ministries and government mandated institutions to ensure strong collaboration and alignment with Tusome Pamoja interventions. 

Prior to joining RTI, Mr. Isuja served as a Regional Team Leader under the United Kingdom-funded Education Quality Improvement Programme in Tanzania (EQUIP-T) where he coordinated technical support to Regional Secretariat for quality and sustainable decentralized implementation.  Mr. Isuja also worked with the Comic Relief-funded Transforming Education for Girls in Nigeria and Tanzania project as a Program Officer, and with the European Union-funded Women Social and Economic Rights project as a Program Support Officer where he contributed substantially to community participation interventions in addressing gender, HIV/AIDS, and women’s rights. Outside of Tanzania, Mr. Isuja worked in the Centre for Social Concern for Orphans and Vulnerable Children in the war-torn and HIV/AIDS-ravaged parts of Northern Ethiopia, where he coordinated access to education and health services for orphans and vulnerable children.
