Applying research, analysis, and tool development to achieve sustainable solutions for waste management
We work with public- and private-sector clients around the world to conduct research and analyses and develop data and tools to support sustainable solutions to waste and materials management. Using approaches that consider life-cycle environmental, cost, and social impacts, we provide services such as life-cycle assessment and design of waste management strategies, emission inventories and greenhouse gas reporting, regulatory and economic impact analyses, and social impact assessments and evaluation of social barriers to new waste management strategies.
We work with clients to evaluate emerging technologies, such as gasification and pyrolysis, as well as solutions for special waste streams, including construction and demolition waste, electronics waste, and nanomaterials. We also assess beneficial reuse of large-volume industrial waste streams and land-clearing debris.
Our long-standing collaboration with the U.S. EPA includes developing a computer-based decision support tool for waste management and supporting the agency’s Sustainable Materials Management and U.S. Waste Sector Greenhouse Gas Inventory and Report efforts.
