Webinar | Conservation Prioritization Tool for Source Water Protection Planning
Date
Join us on June 29, 2021 at 1:30pm EST for a virtual training and information session on the updated RTI International modeling tool for source water protection. RTI’s lead investigator, Michele Eddy will lead the 90 minute session.
In 2019, RTI International completed its study “Quantifying the Potential Benefits of Land Conservation on Water Supply to Optimize Return on Investments” for the Catawba-Wateree Watershed. In the fall of that year, the Catawba Wateree Initiative, collaborating with the Catawba-Wateree Water Management Group held four regional workshops to inform and train planners, elected officials, conservation interests, agencies and decision makers in using the model as a tool in making land use decisions that impact the quality and quantity of our water.
The model has now been updated with more recent land cover data sets plus an analysis of benefits from previously conserved land. A simplified version of the conservation prioritization tool that can be used online has also been developed and will be presented at the webinar.
