Product Overview
The Outcomes for Human Trafficking Survivors (OHTS) is an evidence-based tool designed to support service programs for survivors of human trafficking that comprehensively measures client progress, and drives data-informed program improvements. OHTS documents the status of program clients in outcome categories related to safety, well-being, social connectedness, and self-sufficiency.
Programs can use OHTS to describe clients' strengths and vulnerabilities at a single point in time, support case management, and evaluate outcomes over time by assessing areas of progress. This platform also helps to document program-level impact and identify areas where more services are needed.
The Story Behind OHTS
Service providers for survivors of human trafficking often lack tools to measure the effectiveness of their programs and to identify areas where clients need the most support. The OHTS platform was developed to address this gap by providing a trauma-informed and evidence-based tool. OHTS also complements data that service programs collect, such as client characteristics, service needs, and services delivered. This allows programs to make data-driven decisions to improve their services, identify resource gaps, communicate successes to funders, and build knowledge about what works.
How OHTS Works
How OHTS Works
OHTS is designed to be completed by case managers electronically after meeting with a client. This reduces the burden on the client and supports consistent assessments. The web-based tool guides case managers through a series of questions to assess a client's status across 14 essential life dimensions.
Getting Started
To begin using the OHTS instrument, a program manager or director should first create an administrator account for their organization at ohts.rti.org. After registering the organization, the administrator can invite others, such as individual case managers, to create their own user accounts via email. Once their account is active, a user can add their first client from the dashboard by creating a unique client ID and entering the client's demographic and victimization information.
Completing an Assessment
A case manager starts by adding a new assessment from the client's dashboard. During this process, they can designate one or more outcome categories as priorities for the client. For a comprehensive evaluation, it is recommended that case managers should complete all outcome categories, even if they are not current priorities for that client. Once an assessment is complete, OHTS displays data through visualizations in the client dashboard.
