Red Carpet Entry Implementation Toolkit

About the Project
People with HIV who are rapidly linked to treatment and care are more likely to become virally suppressed—meaning they will not sexually transmit HIV to others—and achieve better health outcomes.

The Red Carpet Entry program is one of a few evidence-informed interventions to rapidly link patients with HIV to treatment and care.

Health care organizations that are interested in adopting the Red Carpet Entry program need tools to support effective program implementation.

The Challenge

Implementation of new programs, like Red Carpet Entry, is often time consuming and requires changes to clinical and/or administrative procedures.

Therefore, staff at health care organizations can be reluctant to adopt new programs, even when they are shown to improve health outcomes for patients.

Staff who are tasked with implementing the Red Carpet Entry program need tools and training resources on how to do so effectively, and these tools must be easy to use in a busy clinical setting.

Our Solution

To help address this gap, we leveraged our implementation science expertise and created the Red Carpet Entry Toolkit in collaboration with program experts.

The toolkit helps clinicians prepare for, implement, and evaluate Red Carpet Entry.  It meets the needs of busy clinicians, models how to overcome implementation challenges based on real-world scenarios, and offers ways to tailor implementation strategies for specific clinical environments.

The multimodal toolkit covers all bases—from short, modular training videos to a comprehensive but easy-to-navigate implementation manual and printable quick guide—to accommodate different learning styles and meet organizations’ various needs.

Our toolkit includes modular trainings (brief and convenient) that use adult learning principles (e.g., experiential and problem-centered scenarios) to help prepare clinic staff to implement Red Carpet Entry.

RCE Toolkit

Across toolkit components, we prioritized convenience and navigability. For instance, our comprehensive implementation manual features section tabs and jump links to help busy clinicians quickly find the information they are looking for.
