Sean Wire is a research criminologist in the Center for Policing Research and Investigative Sciences in RTI’s Applied Justice Research Division. He specializes in evidence-based policing, quantitative and experimental criminology, the intersection between public health and law enforcement, and the criminology of place. Mr. Wire is focused on integrating a multi-disciplinary approach to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of policing. He has extensive experience in methodological design and quantitative statistical analysis, as well as a focus on effective communication with stakeholders, and writing technical and academic reports.

Currently, he assists with the generation and administration of the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) as part of work with the National Crime Statistics Exchange (NCS-X). He also serves as the analytic lead for a research effort involving a cohort of North Carolina cities interested in better understanding their current policing efforts and adopting evidence-based alternative approaches to policing. In addition to his work, Mr. Wire is pursuing a doctoral degree, all but a dissertation, in criminology at George Mason University.
