Nicole Johnson

Nicole Johnson is a research criminologist at RTI. Her research uses quantitative data to understand issues related to community violence and policing, with a particular interest in gun violence, drug markets, and police investigations and activities. She is experienced in using data from a variety of sources, including geospatial data, large administrative data sets, and open-source data. Ms. Johnson is a lead analyst for the NIJ-sponsored Death in Custody Reporting Act study and is a quantitative task lead for Project CLEARS, a study sponsored by Arnold Ventures that aims to identify important factors relating to law enforcement's ability to solve fatal and nonfatal shooting cases.

Before joining RTI in 2022, Ms. Johnson was a graduate research assistant in the Department of Criminal Justice at Temple University, where she worked on a variety of projects related to police practices and investigations. Her dissertation research on neighborhood drug markets and shootings was sponsored by the National Collaborative on Gun Violence Research.
