Marie Stoner is a social and infectious disease epidemiologist and an expert on adolescent and young adult health. Her projects focus on understanding social and behavioral factors related to sexual and reproductive health in adolescents and young adults, couples and pregnant and breastfeeding women in sub-Saharan Africa and the United States.

Dr. Stoner has expertise in statistical methods and data analysis. She uses a range of research methods, including epidemiologic methods such as causal inference methods, methods for longitudinal and multilevel data analysis, mediation analysis, and qualitative and participatory research methods.

Dr. Stoner came to RTI in 2019 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she used data to inform policy and programming around adolescent and young adult health. She has taught at the graduate level and is a member of the International AIDS Society, Society for Epidemiologic Research, and the Population Association of America.
