Dr. Humphrey serves as a multiple principal investigator on a National Institute on Drug Abuse–funded R01 that uses spatiotemporal modeling to estimate county-level HIV burden and vulnerability among people who inject drugs. The project also identifies community- and organizational-level factors associated with improved prevention and treatment services. She is a key investigator on additional projects examining overdose trends, service use, and system responses, including the development of large-scale dashboards that integrate data on interventions, services, and outcomes.

Her portfolio includes roles as a spatial epidemiologist and co-investigator on multi-site research networks that integrate data from health departments, community-based programs, and correctional systems. Across this work, she examines how local environments and service systems shape overdose and HIV outcomes. She also contributes spatial and longitudinal analyses to studies of maternal cardiovascular health, chronic disease prevention initiatives, and retail environments, ensuring that geographic patterns and local context inform decision-making.

Before joining RTI, Dr. Humphrey served as Director of Research and Evaluation at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, where she led analytic, surveillance, and evaluation activities focused on community health and well-being. She previously completed epidemiology postdoctoral fellowships at Drexel University and the University of Colorado Boulder, leading interdisciplinary research on environmental exposures, community conditions, and cardiovascular and respiratory health. Across these roles, she has managed complex data systems, supervised multidisciplinary teams, and produced findings that inform local, state, and national public health practice.

Dr. Humphrey brings advanced expertise in spatial epidemiology and geospatial analytics, applying statistical, machine learning, and spatiotemporal modeling approaches to understand geographic patterns in health outcomes. Her work integrates diverse data sources—including environmental, surveillance, and social determinants of health—to develop community-level insights that inform planning and resource allocation. She also leads interdisciplinary teams at the intersection of epidemiology, data science, and public health to deliver high-impact research and analytic solutions.
