Howard Walls

Dr. Howard Walls possesses a unique and broad research background best described as applying fundamentals in engineering and materials science to solve practical problems in airborne particulate protection, detection, and control. Utilizing knowledge in aerosols (airborne particles),polymer science, nanotechnology, microbiology, test methodology development, and instrument development, he has addressed problems in personal protective equipment, chemical and biological defense, air quality, air filtration, air sampling for bioaerosols (airborne biological particles). Dr. Walls has two decades of experience in successfully managing federally funded programs. While working at RTI, Dr. Walls has obtained 17 patents spanning materials, devices, and methods for protection against and detection of threat aerosols.
