RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Triangle Business Journal (TBJ) has recognized Anuja Purohit, vice president and assistant general counsel at RTI International, a non-profit research institute, as a 2020 Women in Business Award recipient.
The Women in Business Awards program recognizes women who reside in the Triangle, who have a proven track record of being dynamic leaders and who have made significant accomplishments in business and/or their community. Purohit was recognized in the ‘Legal Leaders’ category – spotlighting women who have made significant contributions in the legal field.
“This year’s class of honorees represent the best in professional accomplishment, leadership and community engagement,” says TBJ Market President and Publisher Jason Christie. “We applaud their efforts for what they have done and continue to do in the Triangle and beyond. We look forward to celebrating with each of them later this year.”
Purohit has more than 25 years of legal and business experience and is described as a trusted advisor who provides dedicated support to RTI’s operations globally. She has played an instrumental role in establishing and supporting RTI’s global corporate offices, including locations in Abu Dhabi, India, China and France.
“Anuja has successfully led numerous institute-wide and legal team initiatives to drive change in support of RTI’s success,” said Eddie Story, executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at RTI. “She has made significant contributions in the areas of talent development, operational efficiency and growth for impact, as well as to our overall culture at RTI.”
Purohit is a member of the board of directors of Research Triangle Institute Global India Private Limited, RTI’s subsidiary in India. She is also the executive sponsor for RTI’s Women’s Advancement, Leadership and Success employee resource group and is dedicated to mentoring women at RTI.
Outside RTI, Purohit is on the executive leadership team of the American Heart Association’s Triangle Go Red for Women Campaign. She also collaborates closely with area universities, including Duke University and the North Carolina Central University School of Law to help expand international legal networks in the Triangle.
TBJ has previously honored RTI leaders Nicole Barnes, Lisa May, Karen Davis, Jacqueline Olich, Doris Rouse, and Wendee Wechsberg with its Women in Business Awards. RTI is proud to be recognized for excellence in women in leadership.
