Project will focus on federal assistance to tackle criteria pollutants, air toxics, and greenhouse gas emissions
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Office of Air & Radiation (OAR) has selected RTI International, a nonprofit research institute, to assist with grant programs under the Environmental, Analytical, Research, Technical, and Hybrid (EARTH) Support Services contract.
RTI will support OAR to successfully design and deliver grant programs funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Through the grant programs, RTI will be providing grantees with technical support on community monitoring and other air quality needs.
“We have partnered with the EPA for more than 40 years to address real-world environmental problems through high-quality research, development, and technical services,” said Jason Goldsmith, senior environmental scientist at RTI. “This funding provides us with the opportunity to meaningfully improve air pollution measurements and characterization, which in turn leads to an improved understanding of how to mitigate air pollutants to improve health outcomes for millions of Americans.”
RTI will assist EPA headquarters and regional offices with the implementation and execution of new, expanded, and continuing federal assistance grant programs that focus on criteria pollutants, air toxics, and greenhouse gas emissions. Through systems strengthening and capacity building, RTI will support OAR with the execution of 20 grant programs with varying statutory mandates, program objectives, funding levels, periods of funding availability, eligible recipients, and eligible uses, to effectively distribute and achieve the desired program outcomes.
RTI is working with Tetra Tech, GDIT, EnDyna, and CHANGE Environmental to help advance the EPA’s mission in protecting human health and the environment.
