Development, validation, and analysis of a Local Social Inequity in Sexual and Reproductive Health Score for California (LSI-SRH-CA)
Fowler, C. I., Kaganova, Y. M., & Peacock, K. (2025). Revised results memo for Quantitative Study 1: Development, validation, and analysis of a Local Social Inequity in Sexual and Reproductive Health Score for California (LSI-SRH-CA). RTI International.
This memo updates a previous version (August 2024) submitted to the Office of Population Affairs (OPA) that described the development and validation of the Local Social Inequity in Sexual and Reproductive Health Score for California (LSI-SRH-CA). We have recalculated and revalidated the risk scores for the entire state using sub-county data for Los Angeles County. Los Angeles County is the most populous (9.7 million in 2023) county in the United States and one of its most diverse. Los Angeles County accounts for almost 30% of Census tracts in the state (2,344 of 8,057 tracts in 2010). Using sub-county measures for the five variables in the SRH composite outcome improves the accuracy and usefulness of the LSI-SRH-CA risk scores at both the state and county levels.
