Updating, validating, and analyzing the Local Social Inequity in Sexual and Reproductive Health Score for Los Angeles County (LSI-SRH-LA)
Fowler, C. I., Peacock, K., & Kaganova, Y. M. (2025). Results memo for Quantitative Study 4: Updating, validating, and analyzing the Local Social Inequity in Sexual and Reproductive Health Score for Los Angeles County (LSI-SRH-LA). RTI International.
This memo describes the development and validation of the Local Social Inequity in Sexual and Reproductive Health Score for Los Angeles County (LSI-SRH-LA). The LSI-SRH score measures the community-level risk of adverse SRH, based on social determinants of health (SDoH), and the need for publicly funded SRH programs. Because of its large size and diversity, a risk score developed specifically for Los Angeles County may be needed to improve the identification of SRH risks and needs. Los Angeles County is the most populous (9.7 million in 2023) county in the United States and one of its most diverse. It is home to 27% of California’s population. The County is also large geographically (4,084 square miles) and accounts for almost 30% of Census tracts in the state (2,344 of 8,057 tracts in 2010).
