Product Overview

The Wearables Research and Analytics Platform (WRAP®) is an RTI-owned platform that enables automated collection, monitoring, and analysis of physiological metrics from consumer and research wearable devices. The WRAP ecosystem provides a feature-rich web dashboard to empower users with large-scale sensor data collection and real-time insights for a privacy-centric approach to health studies. 

Designed for research teams running wearable-based studies, WRAP supports participant management, device provisioning, realtime compliance monitoring, secure deidentified data storage, flexible exports, and a Streaming API for realtime analytics and closedloop interventions. 


The Story Behind the Solution

Consumer wearables promise rich, continuous measures of sleep, heart rate, activity, and stress—but in practice researchers ran into two persistent barriers. Study teams lacked the infrastructure and expertise to integrate diverse devices into robust workflows, and data was collected in many vendorspecific, nonstandard formats that were hard to manage and analyze at scale. Studies also demanded secure, auditable consent, scalable onboarding, and realtime compliance tracking that offtheshelf tools did not address. WRAP® was built by RTI to solve these gaps with an endtoend, researchfirst platform.

WRAP provides an end-to-end workflow for wearable research — from study setup and device deployment through ongoing monitoring and final data export. Study teams use the WRAP web dashboard to enroll participants, configure data collection windows and quality thresholds, provision devices, and monitor compliance across cohorts. 

This platform emphasizes reproducibility, data quality, and participant privacy. Data are streamed and stored in deidentified form, and dashboard tools provide data‑quality scores and compliance alerts so study staff can intervene quickly. WRAP’s export and API capabilities let data scientists extract raw or processed sensor streams for custom analyses, and the platform can be extended to support just‑in‑time adaptive interventions (JITAIs) and closed‑loop research workflows.
