Samantha Blake is a research chemist for RTI’s Analytical Sciences program and specializes in liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry. Currently, she primarily supports the chemistry services for the National Toxicology Program (NTP), a program operated under the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS). Ms. Blake is responsible for developing and validating analytical methods to analyze biological samples for the toxicological evaluation of a wide range of small molecule chemicals such as pesticides, plasticizers, and drugs. Ms. Blake also uses high resolution mass spectrometry to characterize environmental, biological, and pharmaceutical samples.

Previously, Ms. Blake led the lab effort of the newborn screening team, performing the MPSII validation and statewide newborn screening pilot study of over 140,000 newborn DBS specimens. She also led the MPS multiplex assay validation and population study and has led numerous small molecule characterization analyses.
