Rashonda Lewis is a data governance and privacy specialist in the Center for Data Modernization Solutions.  She is an expert in best practices for compliant and collaborative data sharing within research, public health, clinical and community settings.  Her skills include application of best practices for sensitive data exchange, development of data governance frameworks metrics, processes and tools, regulatory and legal landscape assessments, and data exchange partner engagement. 

She currently serves as a governance and privacy subject matter expert with the NIH HEAL Initiative® Data Stewardship Group.  The NIH HEAL Initiative® is a multi-agency effort to address the opioid and pain management crisis by improving access to and usability of research data.  She also serves as a task lead with the NIH Cloud Platform Interoperability (NCPI) project.  In this role, she leads development of the project’s governance structure and will support establishment and coordination of project working groups.

Prior to joining RTI, Ms. Lewis served as Data Governance Director at the Tennessee Department of Health where she oversaw operation of the department’s Institutional Review Board, served as Chair of the Data Release Committee, and was a member of the core leadership team for data modernization planning and implementation.
