Dr. Oswaldo Alonso Lozoya is a Scientific Computing Principal Investigator in the Center for Data Modernization Solutions (CDMS) at RTI International. A seasoned biomedical engineer with over 20 years of professional experience across industry, academic, and government sectors, Dr. Lozoya performs data curation roles for the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s (NHLBI) BioData Catalyst Data Management Center, and is an active member of the Environmental Health Language Collaborative from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Dr. Lozoya's technical proficiencies in next generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and assay development span the continuum of biological model selection, experimental design, sample processing, bioinformatics postprocessing, data analytics and visualization, orthogonal validation, and statistics.  He is a subject matter expert on integrative multi-omics research, development, and data science for high-dimensional biology studies and biomarker discovery, as evidenced by a record of cross-disciplinary scientific advancements in bioengineering methods and environmental health with over 60 seminars, presentations, peer-reviewed articles, and patents combined.  His publications lie at the intersections of metabolism, mitochondrial biology, biophysical stimuli, and epigenetics on stem cell physiology, with emphasis on the effects of environmental exposures and infectious pathogens.

Dr. Lozoya’s mission is to amalgamate biological insight from “Big Data” by deploying new analytical paradigms and emerging technologies to the benefit of public health.  He has received multiple honors for his scientific service and achievement throughout his career, including recognition as lead inventor of a virus-and-host surveillance technology licensed in 2022 by the U.S. Government to Least Developed Countries under royalty-free access and development agreements through the WHO C-TAP Initiative for global pandemic preparedness.

Previously, Dr. Lozoya was a Staff Scientist and Genomics Lead in the Translational Science and Innovation Laboratory at Q2 Solutions, and a Research Fellow at NIEHS. He has earned professional certifications in Lean Six Sigma (White Belt), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, and Shainin LLC Technology for Engineering Problem Solving. He is also a full member of the Society of Toxicology.
