Nicholas Kruskamp is a geospatial research scientist who applies geographic theory to problems in environmental and health sciences. He focuses on efforts to combine and enhance spatial applications in big data and machine learning for use with remotely sensed data focused on disturbances, including disease and wildfire in temperate forest ecosystems. He studies the impact of scale and extent of spatial data in predictive models of disease spread. He is also focused on understanding how social and environmental context impacts human health and behaviors, especially around urban heat.

Before joining RTI, Dr. Kruskamp worked at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. His work spans multiple disciplines, including the following projects: alcohol use disorder, gridded methane, opioid use disorder, agricultural mapping with machine learning, network analysis for mini-grid electrical systems, and synthetic populations. He holds a professional membership at the American Geophysical Union (AGU).
