Ms. Greene leads a group of research scientists who use electron, atomic force, and optical microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), and other techniques to characterize a wide range of manufactured products, natural materials, and environmental pollutants. Her team applies their analytical tools to solve client problems associated with occupational and environmental health; product contamination, corrosion, and defects; manufacturing process control; and research and development.

Ms. Greene provides administrative oversight and technical support to proficiency testing programs for laboratories performing asbestos analysis by polarized light microscopy and transmission electron microscopy, including the National Institute of Standards and Technology, National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Programs for PLM and TEM laboratories, the U.S. Navy’s Asbestos Identification Proficiency Testing Program, and the American Industrial Hygiene Association’s Bulk Asbestos Proficiency Analytical Testing Program. She also provides oversight for proficiency testing programs in response to occupational exposure analytes, such as beryllium and environmental lead.

Ms. Greene is active in training and outreach, having worked with EPA to develop training materials at the inception of the fine particulates compliance monitoring network and supported groups across RTI to facilitate consensus-building workshops. Since 2014, Ms. Greene has partnered with AIHA and other federal and commercial clients to develop and vet Bodies of Knowledge for competent professional practice in several focused areas of industrial hygiene and occupational health practice.
