Kate Burdekin is a RTI systems analyst that provides technical project leadership to find innovative solutions that facilitate the research continuum. She leverages clinical research experience, data systems expertise, and creative problem-solving to implement projects and analyze data that impact the health community.

Ms. Burdekin serves as the clinical data and communication systems core lead on the Nutrition for Precision Health project, which is powered by the National Institute of Health’s All of Us program. She leads and develops customized solutions for a complex protocol involving over 15 data sources that converge to answer questions about precision nutrition. In addition, Ms. Burdekin is the co-lead for informatics on the RECOVER project. She has led the design and execution of a semi-automated application review process that improves efficiency in aggregating reviewer feedback and accelerates funding decisions.

Ms. Burdekin’s specialized experience related to data harmonization comes from her time at Sapient Consulting. She led the operations of the FITBIR (Federal Interagency Traumatic Brain Injury Research) data sharing platform to improve traumatic brain injury (TBI) research through more efficient data sharing and data standardization. She also served as a working group member to support the creation of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) common data elements, which were created to determine the most effective way to collect device based TBI data.

Outside of her project work, Ms. Burdekin is a member of the American Public Health Association (APHA).
