Emily Burtch is a justice researcher and works on a variety of projects in numerous aptitudes, from data management and analysis, to resource development, and qualitative interviewing and synthesis. Emily led the development and roll-out of a multi-site dashboard, initiating the task from the data management, to the visualization, user testing, implementation, and eventual hand-off. Emily’s experience in research and evaluation spans across the legal system, with projects on pretrial decision making, training and technical assistance in reentry services, and legislative analysis of probation reforms. 

Prior to coming to RTI, Emily worked as a Domestic Violence Victim Advocate at the San Francisco Office of the District Attorney and as the Crisis Manager for a Juvenile Residential Facility. Emily’s prior work experience impacts the way she approaches research: with a care for and centering of people impacted by the criminal legal system.
