Connect

Elizabeth Troutman Adams is a research public health analyst at RTI with a focus on health communication. She takes a patient-centered approach to explore how information that is shared through strategic campaigns, marketing, advertising, and other media sources influences public perceptions and health-related decisions. She also studies how media influences the prescription of medications, particularly opioids. 

Dr. Troutman Adams is skilled at message design and testing, designing and conducting interviews, analyzing and synthesizing qualitative data, and developing tools to evaluate the effectiveness of communication between patients and providers in clinical settings. She currently contributes to several federally-funded projects, including the National Institutes of Health HEAL Initiative, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Risk Communication Framework, and the Food and Drug Administration Health Care Provider Social Media Influencers Study.
