Connect

Doris Gammon is a senior public health scientist and program manager at RTI. She leads national surveillance efforts, tracking the availability, marketing, and sales of tobacco, alcohol, and other health-related consumer products (naloxone, food dyes, ultra-processed foods). She evaluates real-world impacts of policies using quasi-experimental designs and large-scale retail datasets. Ms. Gammon applies advanced statistical and economic methods and manages complex research projects. Additionally, she translates technical findings and collaborates with federal and state agencies to inform evidence-based regulation and public health strategies that reduce preventable harms. 

Currently, Ms. Gammon serves as the Project Director for a subcontract with Stanford University to support the California Tobacco Retail Environmental Study. She also serves as a subject matter expert in the tobacco retail marketplace for state attorneys general. She is a scientific advisor and lead evaluator for several FDA tobacco projects. She is also a study lead for the Bureau Tobacco Free Florida Surveillance and Evaluation Services of the Florida Department of Health and the New York Tobacco Control Program of the New York State Department of health.  Ms. Gammon led and recently completed two contracts with CDC’s Alcohol Program, where she leveraged her expertise to study the alcohol retail marketplace.

In addition to her work, Ms. Gammon holds professional memberships at the Alcohol Action Network, the American Public Health Association, and the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco.
