Chad Kormos is a research chemist at RTI. He is an expert in hydrogen isotope exchange (HIE) reactions, carbon-14 labeled total synthesis, and NMR spectroscopy. He began working at RTI as a post-doctoral medicinal chemist, contributing to the development, synthesis, and characterization of novel classes of opioid antagonist and agonist compounds, which were published in an array of scientific journals and submitted for patent protection. Currently, Dr. Kormos works on contract synthesis of 3H radioligands, which are useful for in vitro biological assays. He also works on 14C-labeled compounds for use in human absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) studies.
