Brad Mooring is a business develop manager at RTI Technology Ventures, a corporate strategic initiative focused on investing in and developing internal innovative technologies and products that enhance RTI’s impact. In pursuit of this goal, RTI Technology Ventures serves as both the technology transfer office as well as a developer of digital products for the institute. Currently, Mr. Mooring takes a leading role in technology transfer activity. He supports RTI teams with their needs around patent, software, and data usage in projects and licensing to external collaborators. 

Mr. Mooring has an extensive knowledge of patents, copyrights, trademarks, and IP valuation. He leverages his expertise to assess and manage technology commercialization processes, including the ability to evaluate market needs and develop strategies for technology adoption. Mr. Mooring negotiates licensing agreements and other legal documents and builds and maintains relationships with researchers, industry partners, and funding agencies. He also defines product visions, roadmaps, and strategies based on market research and user needs. 

Previously, Mr. Mooring served as an Innovation Advisor at RTI, where he supported NASA Marshall Space Flight Center’s technology transfer office in licensing its intellectual property to industry partners. He also served as a consultant to commercial clients, assessing the market potential of complex technologies, conducting technology landscapes, and shaping go-to-market strategies. 

In addition to his work, Mr. Mooring is a board member of the Council for Entrepreneurial Development. He is a member of AUTM – a non-profit association supporting the advancement of leaders in the field of technology transfer.
