Anthony Berghammer

Anthony Berghammer is a research data scientist who leverages data science for social good. He combines expertise in machine learning, natural language processing, and simulation modeling to deliver impactful results in various fields, including public health and justice.

Recently, Anthony supported multiple text classification initiatives for the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Statistics, where he classified computer-aided dispatch output into a taxonomy crafted by RTI justice experts. Additionally, he has contributed to various opioid simulation endeavors funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), focusing on simulating outcomes tied to Medicaid Expansion in North Carolina. Anthony has also led projects such as automating compliance monitoring for wearable sensors, streamlining workflow automation for tracking NIH SEED projects, and implementing personally identifiable information redaction through named-entity recognition for interview transcripts.

Anthony has supported research and development endeavors that emphasize the integration and effective utilization of large language models (LLMs) into ongoing projects across diverse research initiatives.

Before joining RTI, Anthony served as a data science consultant at Ernst & Young and a decision science analyst at USAA. At USAA, he focused on crafting innovative text analytics solutions for virtual agents and played a crucial role in sales practice error detection.
