Alinda Young is a member of the Women’s Global Health Imperative. She specializes in coordinating qualitative research within the HIV prevention clinical trials. Some of her work has focused on research assessing the acceptability of HIV prevention methods during pregnancy and breastfeeding in sub-Saharan Africa.

Currently, Ms. Young is coordinating the MTN-034/REACH study that looks at the acceptability of the Dapivirine Vaginal ring and oral PrEP (Truvada) in adolescent girls (ages 16-21 years) in Zimbabwe, Uganda, and South Africa.

Ms. Young joined RTI in 2018. Previously, she was a research assistant for the Tulane University Prevention Research Center (PRC) and the Mary Amelia Center for Women's Health Equity Research. At the PRC, she collected and analyzed data for Movin’ For Life, a community-engagement health program in the greater New Orleans Parishes funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. While with the Mary Amelia Center, she conducted community outreach in the different New Orleans Parishes promoting safe breastfeeding spaces for mothers.

Her notable publications include Religious leaders’ role in pregnant and breastfeeding women’s decision making and willingness to use biomedical HIV prevention strategies: a multi-country analysis.
