As a research public health analyst, Aileen Rivell evaluates community-based health interventions for preventing chronic diseases(e.g., cancer and diabetes). Ms. Rivell collects and synthesizes quantitative and qualitative data in writing and data visualizations. She also translates qualitative interview guides and quantitative surveys from English to Spanish, conducting interviews in Spanish for disease prevention message-testing, evaluation, and research.

Currently, Ms. Rivell works on the Red Carpet Entry Program Evaluation, where she develops a database to collect evaluation data for a structural intervention in two HIV clinics to increase access and retention in HIV care. She also develops training materials and trains clinic staff on data collection, quality control, and reporting. Additionally, Ms. Rivell oversees stakeholder survey data collection for the Be Well Communities ™ Initiative Evaluation. For this project, she carries out evaluations of community-based cancer prevention programs and adapts the evaluation to the needs of the client and the community.

Ms. Rivell leverages her bilingual skills to lead a team of interviewers to conduct COVID-19 message testing in Spanish for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and extreme low literacy and their caregivers.

Prior to joining RTI in 2021, Ms. Rivell worked at the Emory School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics as a Project Manager. In this role, she coordinated a multi-disciplinary team developing and evaluating videos to reduce infant sugary beverage intake and prevent diabetes. She also worked as Health Communications & Education Intern at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and as a Contact Tracer & Case Investigator the Georgia Department of Public Health.

In addition to her work, Ms. Rivell is proficient in SPSS and SAS statistical software. She is on track to completing Adelphi University’s Certificate in English to Spanish Translation Studies.
