RTI earns 2026 Top 10 Military Friendly Spouse® Employer designation

Independent scientific research institute placed 7th, received gold ranking

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — RTI International, an independent scientific research institute, announced today that it has earned a Top 10 Military Friendly Spouse® Employer designation after placing seventh and receiving a gold ranking.

This award recognizes organizations that demonstrate excellence in supporting military spouses across various categories:

  • Policies and compliance
  • Culture and commitment
  • Opportunity and advancement
  • Support and retention
  • Hiring and onboarding

From fostering a supportive culture to providing opportunities for advancement, retaining talent, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, these designations highlight the commitment of organizations to create environments where military spouses can thrive personally and professionally.

“We are proud to receive the 2026 Top 10 Military Friendly Spouse Employer recognition,” said Bucky Fairfax, D.B.A., executive vice president and chief human resources officer. “Military spouses contribute exceptional talent, adaptability, experience and perspective to our organization. We are committed to creating an environment where they feel valued and respected, supported, and able to build meaningful careers and impact, while honoring the important role they play in strengthening military families and our workplace.”

Since 2023, RTI has sponsored The Honor Foundation (THF), a career transition program that equips U.S. Special Operations Forces with training, support and connections to help them move into civilian careers and continue serving as leaders beyond the military. They also host a ‘Transition is a Team Sport’ workshop for service members and their spouses focused on how to leverage the couple’s strengths for better communication. In addition to this partnership, the institute has supported organizations such as the North Carolina Military Foundation and North Carolina for Military Employment to advance veteran issues. Many staff members also volunteer their time on community outreach projects that assist veterans and their families.

Military Friendly is the standard that measures an organization’s commitment, effort, and success in creating sustainable and meaningful benefits for the military community. Over 2,900 organizations compete for Military Friendly® designation annually. Military Friendly is owned and operated by VIQTORY, a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business. VIQTORY, Military Friendly®, trademarks and logos are not affiliated with nor the property of the Department of War or any other federal agency. Results are produced via a rules-based algorithm.

In addition to the gold Military Friendly Spouse Employer award, RTI also received the Silver Military Friendly Employer designation this year.
