Petros B. Aklil

Petros B. Aklil is a senior water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) expert with over 25 years of leadership experience designing and implementing projects on behalf of the U.S. Agency for International Development, the U.K.’s Foreign, Commonwealth, & Development Office, the United National High Commissioner for Refugees, among other donors, both in Ethiopia, the Horn of Africa, and globally.    

Mr. Aklil joined RTI in 2023 as a Climate Resilient WASH Advisor in RTI’s Water and Urban Resilience Team. In this role, he contributes to RTI’s thought leadership in areas of WASH, climate change, and resilience, supporting existing projects and business development efforts. Previously, he worked at DT Global as WASH Technical Director, providing overall strategic vision and overseeing technical implementation and expansion of the water sector portfolio.  

Mr. Aklil is fluent in Amharic and English.
