Gretchen McHenry

Gretchen McHenry is a survey methodologist in RTI’s Program for Research in Survey Methodology (PRISM). Ms. McHenry’s work focuses on survey design, qualitative pretesting of survey measures, and best practices for measurement of sensitive topics, including sexual orientation and gender identity. She serves as a program manager in PRISM where she oversees a multidisciplinary team of methodologists. Ms. McHenry also sits on the Executive Council for the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR). 

Ms. McHenry contributed to the effort to create and launch a web administered version of the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH). She led a team of methodologists, programmers, and survey specialists through the creation, testing, and release of the new NSDUH web survey. Ms. McHenry also contributed to the National Mental Health Survey (NMHS), the National Survey of Family Growth (NSFG), and the creation of a telehealth readiness tool for jails as part of the Bureau of Justice Assistance’s (BJA) Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Abuse Program (COSSAP).

Ms. McHenry regularly leads cognitive interviewing projects with internal and external clients and trains RTI staff in developing and conducting cognitive interviewing projects.
