Dr. Charbel Harb is a Research Environmental Scientist in the Center for Exposure and Health at RTI International. His research focuses on understanding the transfer of airborne pollutants in the environment and their impacts on public health. Dr. Harb's expertise spans various fields related to aerosol science, including the physical and chemical characterization of laboratory aerosols and aerosol collection and characterization using optical and spectroscopy methods, exposure assessment, and numerical modeling of atmospheric aerosols.

Dr. Harb is currently leading two research projects aimed at understanding the effects of electronic cigarette design characteristics, specifically coil material and nicotine salts, on the transfer of heavy metals to e-liquids and aerosols.

During Dr. Harb’s postdoctoral tenure at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California San Diego, he conducted research on oceanic aerosol emissions, examining the effects of varying wind-wave conditions, algal blooms, and water temperature changes. Previously, Dr. Harb earned his Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Virginia Tech, where he conducted research on aerosol emissions at the air–water interface, focusing on the mechanistic differences between freshwater and saltwater.

Dr. Harb was inducted into the Atmospheric Chemistry Colloquium for Emerging Senior Scientists (ACCESS XVII) in 2023. He holds a professional membership at the American Association for Aerosol Research (AAAR).
